The material to be used when purchasing a sump tray for the storage of hazardous substances is largely determined by the liquid to be stored, the medium in the small container, in the drum or in the IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) / KTC (Cubic Tank Container) and is decisive for operational safety. Our sumps are made of high quality, durable polyethylene (PE) or high density polyethylene (PEHD ) and are available in many different sizes and designs.
Due to their excellent, high chemical resistance, plastic sumps are ideal for storing aggressive chemicals, such as acids or alkalis and many other substances that are hazardous to water. The media resistance list 40 from the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt) lists all substances that have been tested with regard to the resistance of PE.
PE collection trays - safe and resistant
Sump trays made of PE (polyethylene) or PEHD (polyethylene high density) have a high chemical resistance and, compared to stainless steel, are very easy to handle with a comparatively low weight. Whether oils, acids, alkalis or other aggressive, water-polluting liquids - collection trays made of plastic are ideal for the safe storage of hazardous material containers in portable containers. Sump trays made of PE or PEHD are ideally suited for installation on a level surface within an existing warehouse . However, they can also be integrated into shelving systems, for example as a shelf tray, or used as a shelf tray.
When storing flammable liquids, only non-combustible material may be used as tray material. This is one of the main reasons why plastic drip trays are not used for this group of substances. For applications with flammable liquids we recommend our steel or stainless steel drip pans. Plastic drip pans were developed for indoor installation and have no weather protection . In contrast to hazardous material depots, where weather protection has been integrated via side walls and roof. This prevents the collection trays from filling with rainwater. In the event of an emergency, the required collection volume is then completely available
Size, design and collection volume
Our collection trays are made of high-quality, resistant polyethylene (PE) or high-density polyethylene (PEHD) and are available in many different sizes and designs.
Collection trays for small collection volumes (small containers)
- Laboratory trays
- Table trays
- Small container trays
Collection trays for medium collection volume (small containers and drums)
- Drip trays for 60 l small containers
- Drum collecting trays for 200 l drums
- Pallet sump trays
Drip trays for large collection volumes (large containers)
- IBC sump trays
- KTC sump trays
- Sump trays with a collection volume of 1000 l and more
We offer our customers an extensive selection in different dimensions and sizes. In order to be able to determine the correct collection volume, the 10% rule applies in Germany. In the event of an accident, 10% of the stored hazardous substance (total storage quantity) or the entire contents of the largest container to be stored must be collected.
Collecting tray with or without feet?
Sump trays made of PE or PEHD do not require any ground clearance, as there is no fear of contact corrosion between the tray body and the ground. Therefore, we offer almost all plastic sumps without ground clearance. You save at least 100 mm of valuable overall height and thus have easier handling when loading the sumps. The sump trays without feet or without ground clearance can be lined up as floor protection elements or area protection elements and thus protect large areas from leaking liquids.
For applications where it is absolutely necessary to be able to drive under the plastic collection tray, for example when loading the PE collection tray with an ant, we also offer the variant with ground clearance for almost all tray models.
In addition, our PE collecting trays are available with an integrated grating, with filling devices or also with a built-in splash guard. The steel or PE grating can be easily removed, so that the PE sumps are easy to clean. Some collection trays can also be equipped with castors (two swivel castors, two fixed castors) and a push handle. This allows you to use the PE sump tray for internal transport and to place the hazardous materials where they are needed without having to remove them from the sump tray.
